2026 How does the prepaid lease work

We off a solar financing structure called a prepaid lease with a path to ownership. This explains how it works and how it benefits a homeowner step-by-step.
The 30% Federal Tax Credit and How it's still usable for Homeowners
It starts with the homeowner financing the solar system through a credit union, where the value of the 30% federal tax credit is already built into the deal. That means the customer doesn’t need to worry about claiming the credit themselves—the savings are effectively reflected in a lower overall cost. From there, Integrity Solar Solutions installs the system with $0 down, making it accessible without a large upfront payment.
Third Party Investor
After installation, the system is legally owned by a third-party investor for the first ~5 years. This is important because that investor is able to claim tax credits and depreciation, which is what allows the overall cost of the system to be reduced. During this period, Integrity Solar Solutions handles maintenance and monitoring, so the homeowner doesn’t have to deal with repairs or system issues.
Homeowner Benefits
While the system is operating, the homeowner benefits from significantly reduced electricity bills, often dropping to very low amounts (sometimes under $20/month depending on usage and system size). So even though they may have a loan payment to the credit union, their overall monthly energy cost is typically much lower than before.
After about 5 years—once the tax benefits have been fully captured—the third-party investor transfers ownership of the system to the homeowner at no cost and with no strings attached. At that point, the homeowner owns the system outright and continues to benefit from free or very low-cost electricity for the remaining life of the system (often 20+ years).
Why do we need a Third Party Investor?
The “Why?” section ties it all together: this structure works because the third-party company can take advantage of tax incentives that homeowners otherwise might not fully utilize, and those savings are passed down in the form of a lower cost. The end result is that the homeowner pays less overall, avoids large upfront costs, gets immediate bill savings, and still ends up owning the system long-term.
