We are happy to announce that Las Vegas, one of the biggest entertainment meccas in the world, is embracing solar energy.

According to Forbes, Invenergy, a renewable energy company, will be working on the MGM Resorts Mega Solar Array. “It’s a 640-acre field of solar panels set up in the desert outside of Las Vegas.”

The project is set to feature approximately 300,000 photovoltaic panels that will, as reported, “suck up energy from some of the nation’s sunniest skies” and also generate 100 megawatts. They’re not joking with this project.

The energy produced thanks to Invenergy, will be more than enough to supply “90% of the daytime power” that’s needed at about 13 of MGM’s properties, which include the famous Bellagio, Mirage and Mandalay locations.

Invenergy will also participate in a lifelong project aimed at cleaning up Nevada.
