The New York State Solar Rebate is Dropping

Homeowners located in New York that switch to solar energy are eligible for a state rebate.

This rebate is offered through NYSERDA, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. The value of this state rebate depends on where you are located and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each homeowner will be awarded an amount based off the size of the solar system being installed. The rebate will be deduction from the total cost of their solar system.

NYSERDA has allocated the current rebate level to the first 125,000 kilowatts that apply. Currently, there are only 10,000 kilowatts of solar energy left that will be eligible for this amount.

The NYSERDA rebate will soon be dropping nearly 60%, once the last 10,000 kilowatts are applied for and filled by homeowners living in the Upstate NY region.

Block 8:

NYSERDA will move to Block 9 once Block 8 has been filled. The value of the NYSERDA Rebate will drop nearly 60% at that time.
