According to PV magazine, a 48-apartment building in northern Italy will assist in assessing a new energy community business model “specifically targeting social housing.” The model is currently in a testing phase but that could be over by December of 2022. If the model succeeds, it can be replicated to other regions.
Sergio Matalucci, journalist, reports, “According to preliminary estimates, the PV and storage system will lead to a 60% reduction in electricity consumption.”
PV magazine states that there will be three institutions responsible for this preliminary analysis. They are ART-ER, ENEA (Italian research agency) and University of Bologna. ACER Reggio Emilia – the social housing company – is currently talking to possible partners about installing a PV and also a storage system by the end of this year.
If you lived in Italy, would you support such a project?
What would you do if you were a member of the boards greenlighting projects that supported the energy of the future?
